Kyototarget is an initiative promoted by Avanzi- idee, ricerche e progetti per la sostenibilità, that deals with climate change related issues.
Kyototarget's main focus is the analysis of policies and measures to reduce GHGs emissions, at the national and international level, but also the application at micro and macro levels of flexible mechanisms set by the Kyoto Protocol (namely the assessment of emerging carbon markets, such as the EU-Emission trading scheme, CDMs and JIs.
The audience of Kyototarget is made by private actors, dealers and business unions, but also public bodies, universities, research centers and non governmental organizations (ONG).
More specifically:
- Kyototarget provides enterprises with strategic and operative advise to deal with carbon markets and emissions reduction;
- Kyototarget stimulates financial institutions to take the opportunities offered by carbon markets and to increase resource flows to finance environmental projects in the south of the world;
- Kyototarget addresses public bodies, that need to endorse the challenge related to climate change to define consistent policies in energy and environmental planning;
- Kyototarget cooperates with the research world, at the national and international level, in a privileged position;
- Kyototarget supports ONG to promote information and pressure campaigns aimed at improving the environmental effectiveness of mitigation measures, the employment of alternative energy and a more responsible fuel consumption.
- Kyototarget offers information and analytical support to the media.
Kyototarget has a core research team with cross-sector knowledge on environmental policies, economics and finance but has also recourse to a network of researchers with skills in development finance, Kyoto related mechanisms, renewable energy, green markets, waste and land management, strategic planning and project financing.
As think tank, Kyototarget is shapes as a network open to exchanges and collaboration with the main actors in the climate change and Kyoto Protocol debate: governmental agency and institutions, research centers, enterprises, banks and investors, non-profit organisations.
